We’ve written previously about the “flipped classroom” and how more and more students are viewing lectures and instructions online while at home, and then complete assignments and projects in the classroom. This has created a more collaborative environment where the teacher can help, in person, with what would traditionally be considered “homework.” But what about completely digital classrooms and online courses where the student has no interaction with the teacher, professor, or their classmates? At LearningRx, we want to help students of all kinds improve their cognitive skills and find greater success in the classroom, no matter if it’s online or in a building.

Setting Their Own Pace

With the number of online courses now being offered, students are able to pick the programs they want and can set their own pace for completing assignments. They submit papers and assignments through a school’s or university’s online portal, and they may have “group” members who review and add to their work. The teacher or professor then views the assignment and grades it, and may post a video or audio commentary for the students to view. If the student has a full-time job and is completing online work after they get home in the evening, this can be the best way for them to create a schedule that fits their lifestyle. Instead of having to be in a classroom at a certain time, they can log on when they want to check grades, progress reports, and more. There will still likely be deadlines for assignments, but the stress of keeping up with other students can be removed in the digital classroom.

How Does Brain Training Fit into the Digital Classroom?

A student is still a student, and the skills they need to navigate their online assignments, complete research, and write papers are still pretty much the same as if they were sitting at a desk in a school building. Retaining information, recalling instructions, and focusing on an assignment takes cognitive discipline, and our brain training is designed to help students improve those skills. There can be a completely new set of challenges with online courses, and working with an online portal and posting work in a digital format means a student will have to know what file types and processes are optimal for getting things finished and submitted on time.
