In our last post, we talked about what teachers can do to get their students excited for the spring semester. However, if you’re a teacher, then you’re probably just as excited as your students about the upcoming winter break. You love teaching, but you’re looking forward to a break from the classroom.
At LearningRx, we’re here to support teachers by providing exceptional brain training programs that can help students achieve greater success both inside and outside the classroom. We also provide outstanding franchise opportunities for educators who want to open their own brain training center.
In this post, we’ll take a look at three things that you, as a teacher, can do during the winter break to relax and to prepare yourself for the upcoming semester.
1. Read What You Want!
During the semester, no matter what grade level you teach, your only reading probably comes from the books that the class is reading and the curriculum that you’re following. Over winter break, take time to read what you want to read, whether that’s a new thriller that came out just before the holidays, or a non-fiction book that piqued your interest. You might want to read up on a person or subject that you’ll be teaching about in the spring, allowing you to bring some new and different facts to the topic.
2. Enjoy Your Time Away
While part of your brain will always be engaged with the classroom, it’s important to enjoy your time away from school. Turn off your school notifications for a few days, and don’t check your email for awhile. It’s important to spend time with your friends and family, and to make the most of your downtime. The classroom will be waiting for you when you get back, and if there’s something that’s truly pressing, your principal, superintendent, or dean will be able to get in touch with you.
3. Think About Students Who May Need Help
As a teacher, you know which students in your class are excelling, which ones are getting by, and which ones are struggling to keep up. You may have had some one-on-one sessions with the last category of students, but you know that they need more help than you can provide. This is where brain training can prove effective. At LearningRx, our curriculum can help students unlock greater cognitive potential, which can improve their focus, their reading comprehension, and much more.
