Four Areas Where Brain Training Can Help a Student

If you’ve begun your research into brain training, and you’re wondering whether or not opening a LearningRx franchise will be the right step for you, it can beneficial to think about what impact doing so could make in the lives of students in your community. The financial aspect, the amount of time and energy, and the career path change will all mostly affect you, but the impact you can have in the lives of students of all ages will affect many. Opening a brain training center will help you grow and learn, just as it will help the students grow and learn. In this post, we’ll look at four areas where our programs and your involvement can greatly benefit a student.

braintrain_blog_innerimageA Lack of Confidence

Everyone remembers being in elementary or middle school and having that one child who seemed to know the answer to every question. Perhaps you were that student, or perhaps you were the student in the back of the room who lacked the confidence to raise your hand or volunteer to read aloud. When students are faced with new challenges, it’s common for them to lack the confidence necessary to take it head on. Our programs can help them improve their cognitive skills and feel more fearless when facing a new task or assignment, especially those in a group setting.

braintrain_blog_innerimage2Less Parental Supervision

Parents are busy people, and with their job, their errands, and taking the kids to and from school and extracurricular activities, they may not have much time to help with homework. The amount of homework tends to increase as a student ages, and if they’re left to their own devices, they may not feel much like tackling that 500-word essay first thing on a weeknight. Not only can your brain training franchise give the student the skills they need to complete an assignment and remain focused throughout, it also provides a location where parents can drop their child off to receive one-on-one instruction in a safe environment. The parent can then run their errands and have time during the evening to help with homework.

Time Management Skills

This one often goes hand-in-hand with homework, and if a child lacks good time management skills, they may have to deal with falling behind their classmates. If they’re unsure about an assignment or they feel like it will take them forever to complete, they may put it off and be pressed at the last minute to get it finished. This, coupled with decreased parental supervision, can mean slipping grades and frustration in the classroom. By improving cognitive skills through brain training, they can be ready to start assignments right away and feel confident that they’ll have enough time to get to everything they need to in an evening’s time.

Inconsistent Grades

A student may not have slipping grades, but his or her teacher may notice some inconsistencies in their tests, quizzes, and assignments. The child might excel in reading and writing, but has trouble with math and science. They may be able to understand written instructions for a lab experiment, but spoken directions go over their head. Brain training programs can help them improve their working memory and their processing speed, which can lead to more consistent grades across the board. If a child has difficulty with a certain subject, you, as the franchisee, can pair them with the proper LearningRx program and put them on the path to success.

If you’re interested in opening a brain training franchise, or you’d like to learn more about our programs or franchise model, please contact us right away. The impact you have on students can be nearly immeasurable, and the change you see in yourself may also be surprising. We look forward to hearing from you!

LearningRx Has “An Unquenched Capacity for Growth”

There are countless franchises across the country, ranging from homestyle restaurants to local gyms. Opening a franchise can be a big step for a business owner, and when they take that step, they want to know that they’re making a wise choice for themselves, their family, and their employees (both current and future). At LearningRx, we’re proud to be one of the leading brain training franchises in the country, and are proud to announce that Entrepreneur has named “Children’s Enrichment” as one of the top franchise categories for 2017. With children becoming some of the franchise world’s favorite customers, businesses who support and encourage young ones may see a boon in the New Year.

Setting Up for Success

With our franchise model, franchisees are able to set up a location that serves students of all ages in their area, and our brain training programs are designed to provide the one-on-one interaction that can greatly benefit a child’s cognitive improvement. Unlike many online “brain games,” LearningRx relies on years of research that form the basis for our curriculum, and a business model that sets franchisees up for success from the moment they open their doors. Entrepreneur noted that Children’s Enrichment (which included LearningRx) was one of the franchise categories that has “an unquenched capacity for growth.” Parents who want to see their little ones grow and thrive are always on the lookout for programs and activities that can boost their confidence and their brainpower, and our learning centers can provide both of those things!

Finding the Right Fit

With so many franchises out there, even in just the Children’s Enrichment category, it can seem difficult to find the right fit for your personality. We have people from all walks of life contact us about opening a LearningRx franchise, and we work closely with each person to determine if our model is the right course for their career. We have input from educators, psychologists, therapists, and other experts that help define our programs’ parameters, and we’re always working to make our franchise model better and more efficient. With more than 95,000 individuals of all ages having completed our cognitive programs, we can show you the overwhelming efficacy that our programs have.

LearningRx has 80 centers across the United States, and locations in 40 countries around the globe, and we would love to speak with you about franchise opportunities. We believe that the brain training industry and children’s enrichment industry will continue to grow, and we would love for you to be a part of that growth. Our one-on-one approach means that every child is working with their own personal brain trainer, which keeps them accountable, engaged, and on task. If you have a passion for working with children, or you’re seeking a new career path that lets you work directly with students of all ages, please contact us today. We look forward to growing with you, and can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Discover Your New Career as a Brain Trainer

Starting a new job can be scary enough, but beginning a new career path can be simply overwhelming. If you’re looking for a change, or you’ve recently graduated and want to start your post-college career, brain training could be a good choice for you. If your previous position was as an educator or administrator, then you will have the experience necessary to work with students and facilitate programs that can help them succeed in the classroom. If you worked in another field, such as sales or marketing, then you will understand how to engage with people and get them interested in what your learning center has to offer. Regardless of your experience, you can take your skill set and turn it into a successful career as a brain training franchisee.

The Digital Classroom

We’ve written previously about the “flipped classroom” and how more and more students are viewing lectures and instructions online while at home, and then complete assignments and projects in the classroom. This has created a more collaborative environment where the teacher can help, in person, with what would traditionally be considered “homework.” But what about completely digital classrooms and online courses where the student has no interaction with the teacher, professor, or their classmates? At LearningRx, we want to help students of all kinds improve their cognitive skills and find greater success in the classroom, no matter if it’s online or in a building.

thedigitalclassroom-blogimg1

Setting Their Own Pace

With the number of online courses now being offered, students are able to pick the programs they want and can set their own pace for completing assignments. They submit papers and assignments through a school’s or university’s online portal, and they may have “group” members who review and add to their work. The teacher or professor then views the assignment and grades it, and may post a video or audio commentary for the students to view. If the student has a full-time job and is completing online work after they get home in the evening, this can be the best way for them to create a schedule that fits their lifestyle. Instead of having to be in a classroom at a certain time, they can log on when they want to check grades, progress reports, and more. There will still likely be deadlines for assignments, but the stress of keeping up with other students can be removed in the digital classroom.

How Does Brain Training Fit into the Digital Classroom?

You may be wondering how our brain training programs fit into the digital classroom, and at LearningRx, we’re always working to adapt to changing educational trends and the advancement and improvement of technology. A student is still a student, and the skills they need to navigate their online assignments, complete research, and write papers are still pretty much the same as if they were sitting at a desk in a school building. Retaining information, recalling instructions, and focusing on an assignment takes cognitive discipline, and our brain training is designed to help students improve those skills. There can be a completely new set of challenges with online courses, and working with an online portal and posting work in a digital format means a student will have to know what file types and processes are optimal for getting things finished and submitted on time.

If you’re interested in helping students who are completing online courses, or you’d like to know more about brain training and how it fits into the 21st century, contact LearningRx today. We’re always excited to meet people who have a passion for providing students with the skills they need to be successful, both now and in the future. A student who successfully completes their online courses and receives their degree can have the opportunity to go on to bigger and better things, and if brain training can help them get there, you can take pride that you were a part of their success.

Resolutions to Boost Your Brainpower

At LearningRx, we’ve created brain training programs that are designed to boost a person’s brainpower, no matter if they’re six or 66. We’ve worked with students and people of all ages, and have seen improvements across all age groups. We’re always working to make ourselves better, and one way people try to improve themselves is by making New Year’s Resolutions. It’s well known that a majority of people give up on their resolutions before January is over, but we’ve come up with some things you can do in 2017 to boost your brainpower.

resolutionsboostyourbrainpower-blogimg1

1. Exercise

Movement is always good for the brain, since its job is to tell your muscles and bones what to do. Whether it’s going for a run each morning or renewing that gym membership, exercise is important for good brain health. Your brain and body can become more in sync, and you’ll feel better, which always translates to better focus in the classroom or the office.

2. Get Outside

This resolution can go hand-in-hand with getting more exercise, but spending more time outside can benefit the brain. Your body needs vitamin D, and the sun is an excellent source of this crucial vitamin. Once the weather is nice enough where you are, get outside and read a book in a sunny spot, or spend some time playing with your dog in the local park. Your brain will thank you!

3. Change Your Diet

Losing weight and eating healthy are often very popular resolutions, but many people find it hard to change what they eat and how often they exercise. We’ve written about brain-boosting foods before, and incorporating a few of these into your daily diet can make a difference when it comes to brain health. By properly fueling your body, you’ll have the energy to get through the day, no matter how many assignments or projects you need to complete!

resolutionsboostyourbrainpower-blogimg3

4. Play Video Games

We know, this one might seem contradictory to exercising more and getting outside on a regular basis, but playing video games can enhance your brainpower by helping you solve puzzles, think more spatially, and reach a goal. You can also work on your memory and focus, since you have to pay attention to what’s going on in the game and may have to remember where that last dungeon key is located on a certain level. Video games are also a great way to unwind after a long day of school or work.

If you’re thinking about the new year and what it will look like for you, why not work on improving your brainpower? At LearningRx, we love meeting individuals who want to improve themselves and the lives of those around them, so if you’re interested in brain training programs or opening your own learning center, please contact us today. We will gladly speak with you about our franchise opportunities and how you can make 2017 one of your most successful years ever. Contact us today to get started!

Understanding the Flipped Classroom

The “flipped classroom” is a relatively new term in the education world, and it’s important for parents and students to understand exactly what it is. In simple terms, the flipped classroom is an inversion of teaching methods where the students view lectures and instructions online outside the classroom (often at home) and do the traditional “homework” such as worksheets, projects, and other tasks in the classroom. It can be a difficult concept to grasp at first, but there are schools that have begun to implement this method.

How Is This Method Beneficial?

In a standard lecture course, such as those in colleges and universities, students are trying to take notes at the same time the teacher is speaking. With online videos and tutorials, the student can go back and take better notes on something they may have missed the first time, and those notes can be applied to the in-class projects or assignments. With the advent of smarter technology, students are able to watch videos and tutorials on their phones or tablets, and can often bring their devices with them to class for assistance. The flipped classroom also gives the teacher or professor the opportunity to work in group setting with their students, instead of standing at the front of the class and talking for an hour or more.

How Does This Work with Brain Training?

At LearningRx, we want to encourage students to improve their brainpower, whether it’s in terms of attention and focus, memory retention, or processing speed. The flipped classroom puts a bit more responsibility on the student to learn the material before the actual class time, but they’ll be able to collaborate with their peers and teachers on the assignments, using the instructions in a group environment. Improved cognitive skills can help them feel more confident when starting an assignment, and they can more easily recall the steps necessary to completing a task.

Is There a Downside to This Model?

As with any new teaching method, there are risks involved. The teacher must be diligent about recording and preparing the videos or tutorials, and the material must be relevant to what the in-class assignments will be. If a school implements a flipped classroom too quickly, there can be things that are lost in translation or fall between the cracks, leaving both students and teachers behind.

If you’re interested in opening a brain training franchise in your community, please contact us today. Regardless of the type of classrooms the students in your town or city attend every day, you’ll be able to offer them exceptional programs that boost their reading, math, and other skills. We’re always striving to keep up on the latest educational trends and learning how brain training can work alongside them. We know that there will always be advances and changes in technology and teaching methods, but if we can focus on building better learners and giving students more confidence both inside and outside the classroom, then we will have accomplished our goal.

Preparing for the New Year

Every new year brings new challenges, and as a LearningRx franchisee, there are things that you can do to prepare for another 365 days of brain training, encouragement, and success for both your students and your staff. If you’re still contemplating whether or not you want to open a brain training franchise in your community, a new year is a great time to make that decision and get started once the calendar changes. Our support staff would love to speak with you about the opportunities for a learning center in your city. In this blog, we’ll cover some of the things you can do to a franchisee to prepare for 2017, and if you’re not yet a franchisee, what you can do to get ready to begin the LearningRx journey.

Do You Need to Rethink Your Space?

Each brain training center is unique, and the building in which it’s located can dictate how the space is utilized for each one-on-one tutoring session, staff meeting, and open house. If you set up your space in a certain way when you opened, but have found that it’s not as conducive as you’d hoped, the New Year is a great time to rethink how everything is set up. You’ll most likely have a few days if not longer when not very many students are visiting the center, so disrupting the learning space won’t be an issue.

Do You Need to Hire More Staff?

We hope that your franchise has seen growth and success during 2016, and it might be necessary to bring on more people for the next calendar year. You may also have people who want or need to move onto another career, and the beginning of the year can be a great time to bring in new people and help them get integrated into how things are done in your learning center.

Do You Want to Start a New Career?

This question is more for those who are still debating about whether or not a LearningRx center is the right path for them, but if you’ve been contemplating a career change during 2016, then the New Year could be the perfect time to take that step. Our franchise support and territory teams will help you find the perfect location for your new brain training center, and give you all the resources you need to hit the ground running in 2017.

Do You Want to Help Kids Succeed?

This question is for both those who currently own and operate a franchise, and those who are just getting their feet wet with the idea of opening a franchise. If your passion is helping kids succeed and find greater opportunities during their school years and after they graduate, then a brain training franchise could be the perfect fit. What can you do in 2017 to help the students in your community increase their brainpower, participate more in class, and become a leader in their school?

The New Year will be here before you know it. Contact us today to learn more about our franchise opportunities!

Don’t Let Skills Slip Over the Holiday Break!

At LearningRx, we love seeing the joy on our students’ faces when they think about the holiday break and the two weeks or so off from school. We know that they’ve been studying hard and completing assignments with diligence, and taking a break from the stress of school can help prepare their brain for the second semester (or interterm, if they’re in college). As a brain training franchisee, there are a few things you can do to ensure progress isn’t lost over the long holiday break.

lrx-dontletskillsslipholiday-blogimg1

Encourage Holiday Break Brain Training Sessions

We know that families often travel over the holidays, and keeping their normal schedule with their brain trainer can be difficult. By offering flexible hours and having your staff work with their students on the best time to meet over the holidays, you can keep everyone moving forward with their cognitive improvement. You may also have a holiday party at your LearningRx location, where you show your appreciation for your staff, students, and the parents who bring their children to the brain training center on a regular basis.

lrx-dontletskillsslipholiday-blogimg2

Advocate for Independent Reading and Research

LearningRx programs are designed to help students improve their reading comprehension, memory retention, and other key cognitive skills. If a student has a favorite author who has a new book they’ve been dying to read, encourage them to pick up the book and sit down with it on those cold, snowy days when they can’t go outside. If they’re interested in science and technology, urge them to try some at-home experiments or to inspect that new gadget they receive as a holiday gift. The classroom isn’t the only place where education can take place, and setting their own goals and parameters for an assignment or experiment is a great way to bolster their love of learning.

lrx-dontletskillsslipholiday-blogimg4

Set Up a Plan for the New Year

Everyone makes New Year’s Resolutions, but many people do away with them before January is over. With brain training, it can be beneficial to create a plan for the New Year in terms of where a student wants to be by the time the second semester is over. Every student will progress at a different rate, and our brain training programs have well-defined metrics to show how far someone has come. If they’re attempting to read at a higher grade level, or they want to be able to lead a group assignment before the school year is over, help them define the steps they need to get there.

At LearningRx, we want to help students of all ages all year round, and that means encouraging them to remain diligent and dedicated during their holiday break. It’s a great time away from school, where they’re able to do those things they want to do, and with your franchise location, bettering their brains will hopefully be one of those things!

If you’d like to learn more about our franchise opportunities and how you can make an impact in the lives of students in your community, contact us today to discuss the best approach!

Building the Best Learning Center Staff

When you open your LearningRx franchise, it’s important to know that you won’t be responsible for handling every aspect of the operation (even though you might feel like you want to). You put forth the time and energy to start your franchise and open your location, and now it’s time to find the brain trainers and support staff you need to be successful. It’s essential to surround yourself with people who share your vision of helping students improve their cognitive skills, and who can provide a wide variety of skills to make your new franchise run smoothly.

smallerphoto1Finding What You Do Best

Depending on your background, whether it be in education, business, or another field, there will be things you can do and things you can do well. Discovering what you do best in the context of your brain training center will allow you to focus on those things, while you let your employees handle the other aspects of the operation. If you’re not as well versed in marketing or design, hiring someone who can create and publish ads can help you boost your profile within your town or city. If you’ve always struggled with keeping good numbers, hiring an accountant can help make sure your books are as they should be. This will allow you to focus on what you want to do and what you do best, such as reaching students, connecting with parents, and furthering your vision of improving cognitive skills.

smallerphoto2Finding Those Quality Hires

When setting up your new LearningRx franchise, you’ll want to keep an open mind when starting the hiring process. Posting your job opportunities online can land a quality hire, but you’ll also want to network and call upon those you already know to help you find qualified applicants. Depending on the position and skill level, you may be able to find recent college graduates who are looking for an excellent entry-level job. For supervisorial and other positions with more authority and responsibility, it can be beneficial to call upon a wide range of older applicants who have experience in a related field. It’s also important to keep in mind that someone who doesn’t have any experience with brain training or tutoring franchises may bring a unique perspective to your learning center that can make it truly special.

smallerphoto3Setting Up Everyone for Success

Your main priority will always be the students who come for brain training, but you want to be sure that you’re setting up everyone for success. Being open and honest with applicants about what your expectations are can help set manageable, but challenging goals that will push your staff to make your center stand out in the community. It’s important to be accessible to your staff, and to let them know that you’re always available to answer questions and address concerns. Creating a positive culture within your center will show through to the parents and students who walk through the door.

Brain-Boosting Foods

dreamstime_xxl_25932046At LearningRx, we believe in building better brains that can work faster and more efficiently when a person needs it to. Our brain training programs are designed to help students of all ages improve cognitive function, and with our one-on-one approach, they’re able to boost their cognitive skills in a safe and encouraging environment.

While our programs are designed to boost brainpower, it’s also important to consider what type of food students are putting into their bodies, and how the brain is using those nutrients. In this post, we’ll cover some brain-boosting foods and the effects they can have.

Blueberries

Blueberries are known to be packed with antioxidants that can protect the brain from neurodegeneration. While this isn’t something that many young students will have to worry about, the addition of blueberries to their diet can improve memory function.

Avocado

Avocados are high in monounsaturated fats, which have been shown to protect brain cells. While many young students may not like avocado, the benefits can be extensive, so it could be good to find ways to incorporate this food into the diet.

Red Wine

Obviously this is something only for those adults who are of drinking age to take advantage. There have been studies done on the effects of grape-derived polyphenols on brain blood flow, and how this affects diseases such as Alzheimer’s and dementia.

If you’d like to learn more about our brain training franchise opportunities, please contact us right away. We’re always excited to meet new people who want to help students boost their brainpower, and if you want to know more about foods that help with brain health, all it takes is a little research!
