Building Stronger Spellers

dreamstime_xxl_27357137How many times have you been writing an email or letter, and had to stop to look up how to spell a word? With today’s technology, you can ask your smartphone how you spell a word, but it still frustrates you a little bit that you couldn’t remember how to spell it on your own. There are many young students today who struggle with spelling, and their reading and writing fluency suffer because of it. At LearningRx, we want to empower our brain training franchisees so that they can empower their students to become stronger spellers.

Not Just for a Spelling Bee

Many people watch the Scripps National Spelling Bee each year, and even adults are astonished at the difficulty of the words the finalists have to spell. Today’s students not only face weekly spelling tests and their school’s annual spelling bee, but they struggle with finishing papers or completing assignments because they’re constantly looking up how to spell certain words. In the surveyed results of our ReadRx program between 2008 and 2015, there was an average increase of 17 percentile points in our Word Attack exercises, and 12 points in our Spelling Sounds exercises. That’s an improvement of approximately 3.5 years in Word Attack, and 2.7 years in Spelling Sounds.

As a LearningRx franchisee, you’ll be helping to build stronger spellers, so when those students grow up and are writing emails, memos, or whatever type of communication exists 20 years from now, they won’t have to worry about whether or not they spelled something correctly.
